Watkins Organic Automatic Dishwashing Detergent

Spotlessly clean dishes are important—but should not come at the expense of the environment. Chemicals called phosphates do a terrific job of softening water, making detergents more effective.
Unfortunately, when released into our lakes and streams, phosphates act as fertilizers, increasing the growth of vegetation and choking off aquatic animal life. Now there’s a better way…presenting
the first fully-biodegradable, phosphate- and chlorine-free powdered automatic dishwashing detergent!

• Fully-biodegradable; phosphate- and chlorine free: No petrochemicals; no animal testing.

• Safe, sustainable ingredients: Made entirely of earth-replenishable minerals and plant-based
ingredients.

• Environmentally-safe without compromising performance.

• State-of-the-art granulizing technique helps “layer the chemistry” of the product to timerelease
the active ingredients in sync with the dishwasher’s wash cycle.

• Concentrated: Just use two scoops (4 tbsp/60 mL) per load.

• Sturdy, double-sealed plastic pail—scoop included.

Essential Ingredients
• Biodegradable polypeptide: A soil-suspending, water-softening and washer protection agent
with a half-life of 18 hours. This means half of this component is decomposed within 18 hours;
half again in another 18 hours, and so on. The carrier for this component is sodium carbonate,
a naturally-occurring mineral.

• Modified enzymes: Special proteins that catalyze the breakdown of organic soils. Non-toxic;
fully biodegradable.

• Natural fragrance: Fully biodegradable; all components found in nature.

Performance Tests
Tests were performed to check the efficacy of Watkins Organic Automatic Dishwashing
Detergent against standard market brands. Stains were applied to typical dishware as follows: plastic cups/red lipstick; small plates/eggs; glasses/milk; forks and knives/eggs (air-dried for 42 hours); mugs/tea; large plates/assorted milk-based products (placed in a 200° oven for 1 hour); spoons/Italian dressing (air-dried for 42 hours). • On the plastic cups: Watkins tied with Cascade® (average), with a slight edge going to Palmolive® (good).

• All three products were equal (excellent) on the glasses and mugs.
• On the spoons, Watkins and Palmolive® tied (excellent), both beating Cascade® (good).
• In all other cases—small and large plates, forks and knives—Watkins (excellent) beat both other
products (good).

In the average of all tests combined, Watkins beat both of the other brands! Dishwashing Tip If machine is leaving undissolved powder or residue, decrease use level.
